Why did you choose KAUST?

As an undergraduate, I was awarded the KAUST Discovery Scholarship and sponsored to finish my bachelor’s degree and continue on to my master’s degree studies at KAUST. As a Saudi, I felt the opportunity to continue my graduate study in a world-class university in my country would be a new learning experience, and I have been excited to be part of the KAUST vision and mission.

How is KAUST helping you to fulfill your dream?

At KAUST, I am taught by high qualified professors and supervised by a leading scientist in Electrical Engineering, Pro. Mohamed-Slim Alouini. All these factors motivate me to excel in my research and studies and engage with new, cutting-edge research from around the world.

What is your research topic?

I am currently working on optical wireless communication that uses light propagation to transmit data for telecommunication. It is a new and promising technology, especially when physical connections are impossible.

What are your research accomplishments so far?

I finished my master’s thesis with my advisor in May, and I am looking forward to publishing some papers for various conferences by the end of this year. I am also currently a PhD student at KAUST.
What do you think about the KAUST environment and social life?

KAUST is a quiet place, but this is positive because it enables you to focus on your studies. In addition, the cultural diversity of the people at KAUST makes the University very special. Here you can build up your network from all over the world. The campus is also full of extracurricular activities that you can participate in when you finish your day to energize your body, mind, and soul.
The KAUST experience is full and rich. One realizes this when recalling the first time one moved here – since then, there have been big and beautiful changes in one’s life.
