MS.c. KAUST 2013
Advisor: Prof. Mohamed-Slim Alouini

Why did you choose KAUST?

During the early years of my bachelor’s degree at Jordan University of Science & Technology (JUST), I developed the habit of stopping to chat with professors about the possibility of being part of today’s rapidly evolving world of technology.

My search for a leading academic institution in the Middle East landed me at KAUST for several different reasons, including the availability of the communications program, the strong communications curriculum, a unique research and development program in communications, and world-class faculty members.

How is KAUST helping you to fulfill your dream?

I grew up with a fascination for inventions that have revolutionized the world of technology related to our everyday lifestyles. I have learned from my advisor how to do real research in the area of wireless communications. It is a great privilege and big plus on my resume that I worked during my master’s degree with Prof. Slim Alouini. As I learned more and more about this extremely fascinating subject, I decided to do my PhD at KAUST under Prof. Slim’s supervision.

What is your research topic?

My research focuses on cooperative relay networks - bidirectional transmission, cognitive radio networks, green communication, and MIMO systems.
I am also interested in designing algorithms and approaches that solve optimization problems for cognitive relay networks.

What are your research accomplishments so far?

Awards: KAUST Fellowship for master’s and PhD degrees, King Abdullah University of Science and Technology, Saudi Arabia
Publications during my master’s degree: Two conference papers accepted, one journal paper accepted, two journal papers submitted, and one journal paper currently under preparation.

What do you think about the KAUST environment and social life?

I think KAUST has a very unique academic and social environment. The superb facilities at KAUST enable the students to do good research work.
